  1. out of curiosity… what would make me use this, instead of just using jenkins for the entire process? What can spinnaker do, that jenkins cannot? and vice versa

  2. I'm currently trying to learn working with Spinnaker and came across this video. Triggering Jenkins from Spinnaker, especially by extracting the Git commit hash and passing it as a parameter definetly seems wrong to me. Why don't you trigger Jenkins by commit and trigger Spinnaker by completed Jenkins build? And why aren't you using the same pipeline for deploying to dev also to deploy to prod? That's what I understand is the big strength of Spinnaker – having those long running pipelines.
